Sometimes we begin friendships in college and suddenly they seem to be falling apart–always around the most stressful time of the semester too, mind you. So what do you do when your friend the hall stops saying yes to grab a meal and the guy from your Chemistry class stops wanting to study? REASSESS! It sounds harsh, but it needs to be done.

I have a friend whom is very dear to my heart. We’ve known each other for three years. I am ALWAYS there for her when she needs me, even if I’m working I do my best. I know she appreciates it, but there have been times where she hasn’t been that good of a friend to me. Sometimes I have to reevaluate and reassess our friendship. When I do, I ask myself “Am I using her to benefit anything? Is she using me to gain anything? Do I hang out with her when there is no one else around? Do I feel bad after being around her?” Asking yourself these questions makes you check in with reality every so often. You don’t want to hurt anyone and don’t want someone hurting you. So take a step back, reassess your friendships and move forward with the semester. It’s sure to be a great one!
