Summer Reading-Does it really matter?

In high school, a lot of people waited until the last minute to read their summer reading books. Then again, there were times where I even have procrastinated in doing the summer reading. However, in college, a lot of professors try to incorporate the book for a couple of assignments. These assignments might be reflective or creative papers, or research papers. Others choose to use discussions to incorporate the book in their class. A lot of colleges pick interesting books. However, there are some times where the books are boring. Like my freshman year; the book we were given to read was HORRIBLE. I remember later on in the year, students gathering outside of our dorm to burn the book. The material was interesting, but the references made where lost to us as an audience.

So when you’re moaning and groaning over the choice of your summer reading, remember that it can’t be as bad as a book condensing all scientific theories and facts. Remember that the summer reading does have a purpose, even if you can’t see it yet. So relax, and try to get through whatever book you are required to read. Chances are, it’s not that bad.
